Someone hit my car...

I was working away last night and I heard someone page my supervisor. He came in to where I was and told me someone had hit my car.. He's pretty cool and always jokin' around so I was like "Bullshit.." and he said he was serious.

So I went out and checked and my car got hit pretty bad. I guess the guy didn't clean off his back window and he backed right into me. The front fender is so caved in that I can't even open my passanger door.. I guess the kid hit it, got out and looked at it, got back in and sped off...

So I called the popo and filed a report, I had about 10 witnesses and a bunch of them took a statement. I was later talking to some people that work in his department and they said that this kid's really broke and they don't even know if he has insurance.

The cop that I dealt with was really cool, he told me that if I work things out with this kid that I won't have to go through insurance and all this shit.

What I'm wondering is, what do I do?! The car is getting painted in the spring, so I don't really want to have to paint just one fender and have it be fresh for a couple months, then repaint it.. Should I stick it to this little cheezeball and get some Z3 fenders?! Anyone know how much they're worth?! Or should I just not fuck around and just fix everything back to stock? Or should I get a fender for it and keep the extra money he gave me to paint it and just save it until I paint the whole car?!

I don't know what to do.. If this kid doesn't have insurance I won't even be able to get anything from him, right? Will this make my insurance go up even though I was no where near the car?

ARGH! I think my head is gonna pop open..

Ouch man - that sucks. Do you have a faultless no-claim bonus with some insurance agencies - if you aren't at fault, you keep your premium and no-claim bonus. I'm kind of hoping you have that because if you don't and the kid truly is broke then it's going to hurt you even more

GL - I hope it works out for you. Have you thought of just whacking a fender from a wreckers on until you do your paint etc? I know it'd look like shit - but it might be the cheapest option.

Yeah but fenders used cost $70 from a salvage yard, to get them painted maybe another $50. Not worth it.

Grind down the fender at the door.

Save yourself the time and get some Z3 fenders...however make sure these fenders are from a reputable place and will look decent with the seemline on your hood and will keep the consitent contour. Andy's Autosports has shitty Z3 fenders...I know because a guy here bought some and they were taller then his stock hood. So something to think about.

And it's jsut a fender...be lucky it also wasn't your door. You lucked out for having someone back into you.

After all you'll have the money for everything in what 3 months?

Get some Z3 Fenders.
If he has no insurance you can take him to court and win. Then him or his parents will have to be paying out of their pockets.
Your not at fault so if you do go through insurance you will just have to pay the deductable and nothing else.

If i were you i would make him pay for it

Hey I am from Ontario.......

If the kid has insurance your laughing..if he doesnt you just have to pay the detuctable for your insurance....

If the kid doesnt he is up shits creek...big fines....up $10,000 and the courts dont go lightly.

As far as the Z3 fenders......what the hell are they..ive never seen them?

I would Stick it to him.

1. why the hell was he driving if he did not have insurance ( Big ass fine)

2. ok he's broke... not your prob, get him to get a loan from the bank or parents to pay for the damages he caused.

3. since he left the seen I NOT cut him any deals.

4. get an apraisal and get him to reimburse you that ammount, and save the money and use it when you get the car painted in the spring.

5. Only buy OE Honda fenders the aftermarket ones suck ( i'm not talkin about the Z3 here)
